In 1992, shortly after America lifted restrictions to Vietnam, a prominent feminist, a journalist during the Vietnam War period, traveled to Vietnam, commissioned by "Travel & Leisure" Magazine to chronicle her journey. She writes: "You take a lot of baggage when you go to Vietnam, one small suitcase, one carry-on, and two thousand pounds of disjunctive emotions napalmed into your brain from a televised war that won't go away." Despite...or perhaps because of these feelings, she returned to continue her research into Vietnam's history, events, culture, and everyday life, resulting in this book which is part memoir, part travelogue.
